Sarbjit is a sloppy flick full of all emotional, heart breaking, getting you teary-eyed all the time movie.
Story Plot:
Plot revolves around the protagonist, Sarbjit Singh Attwall (aka Randeep Hooda), a farmer living in a Punjab village close to the Indo-Pak border. He got drunk one night and singing the song 'Jai Jai Shiv Shankar', got himself tossed over the line of border. Obviously, he was grabbed by the Pakistani patrol. He was imprisoned, in a box full of water and rats for months, limbs and hands bruised and he was hung upside down, till bloody. He was forced day and night to confess that he is 'Ranjit', an Indian accused of terrorism in Pakistan. While, Sarbjit struggles out there in Pakistan, Dalbir Kaur (aka Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) his courageous sister who is very protective about her brother holds up weapons to fight a dogged battle for him. She puts in all her guts to free her brother and prove him innocent. Sarbjit has other family members i.e. an old father and his wife Sukh (aka Richa Chadda). Dalbir's appeal on both sides of the borders falls out to deaf ears and uncared. She makes people in mass understand her point, but all in vain. Then after 18 years of wait Sarbjit could meet his family. He died rotting in Pakistan.
Review:
The tagline of the story is the horror of a human force to suffer physically and mentally. He was tortured and used as a political bait between India-Pakistan's see-sawing relations. The ill-treatment given to Sarbjit makes you cry forcibly throughout without actually feeling. Aishwarya's high-pitch makes you cover your ears; she has imparted an overdose of throat bombing. Richa Chadda, an excellent actor, has not been brought up to the limelight, much often. She just has two and a half scenes. Randeep Hooda is the only thing worth watching in the movie. The movie concludes that human may come and go but humanity must prevail. The movie is a must watch if you are an Aishwarya fan.
